He is responsible for teaching several courses which formerly included the capstone studio which provided a service-learning experience for undergraduate students. The studio often focused on providing watershed based land use planning assistance to communities in Kentucky. Prior to starting as an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky in 2003, his graduate research focused on the form and function of community watershed organizations and their capacity building efforts in watershed management. His formal education consists of a B.S. of Landscape Architecture from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Regional Planning and a Master of Liberal Arts (Landscape Ecology) from the University of Pennsylvania. He returned to Penn State to complete his formal education in the School of Forest Resources - Center for Watershed Stewardship.
