Bats and Wind Energy Workshop

Bat Conservation International (BCI), in partnership with the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (AFWA), is proud to announce our upcoming Bats and Wind Energy Workshop in Portland, Maine. This event will combine science, conservation and education to provide participants with the latest research and monitoring techniques.

Topics include an overview of bats and wind energy issues, relevant guidelines and metric documents, field methods, equipment, data analysis and minimization strategies to reduce bat fatalities at wind energy facilities. The workshop will also feature specific discussions of policy, regulation and the challenges of detecting fatalities of rare or endangered species, using the Indiana myotis as an example.

Registration fees include breakfast and lunch during the 2-day workshop, course materials and instruction by leading experts from U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, American Wind Wildlife Institute, First Wind, Stantec, AFWA and BCI.
