Engaging Conservation Partnerships in the Vital Chesapeake Bay Watershed
In October, Jean joined acting North Atlantic LCC Coordinator Mike Slattery at the 2016 Chesapeake Conservation Partnership’s annual meeting, convening nearly 120 people at the National Conservation Training Center. Speakers shared their successes and new projects in fast-paced presentations, highlighting the tremendous collective impact of the group.
At the Chesapeake Watershed Forum, hosted by the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Jean joined Kelly Watkins, Executive Director of the Cacapon & Lost Rivers Land Trust, to highlight the collaborative work these two partners initiated to identify how the Appalachian LCC can best serve the Land Trust community. The Forum brought together representatives from local watershed organization and local government leaders to learn the latest restoration science and direction. It provided an excellent opportunity to network with other groups and individuals facing similar challenges, and to be inspired to continue the work of preserving, protecting and restoring the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
