We are saddened to report that West Virginia State Forester Barry Cook passed away May 9th due to injuries sustained from an accident at home.

Barry was a seasoned forester of 45 years, a small-business owner, and a military veteran. He and his long-standing dedication to conserving West Virginia's forests and their many benefits will be dearly missed.Our heartfelt condolences go out to all of Barry's family, many friends, and co-workers. In lieu of flowers, the family has established an educational expense fund for Barry’s children. Details on the memorial service and how to donate can be found here.


NASF, Murkowski urge uptick in PPE for wildland firefighters [NASF Newsroom]

In separate letters, NASF and Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski have called for greater access to personal protective equipment (PPE) for all wildland firefighters.
